Boulder, CO (Nov. 16, 2011). During the 2011 NFL season, Toyota is giving away $150,000 to worthy organizations that use sports for social change and The Women's Wilderness Institute (TWWI), has been selected to participate.
Founded in 1998, TWWI has established a new model of outdoor education that recognizes the needs and developmental issues of girls through hands-on experiences in wilderness activities.
As one of four non-profits in the U.S. selected to compete in the "Halftime Hand Off: A Rally for Causes" during the week of November 16-22, Toyota invites the public to visit the Toyota Facebook page, review the profiles of the selected non-profits, and choose which one will receive a $10,000 contribution.
Steve Doersam, General Manager of Larry Miller Boulder Toyota, plans on publicizing the competition through its facebook page and web site. In addition to the opportunity to earn $10,000, the non-profit with the most votes will also be profiled during the following week's halftime show during NBC's "Sunday Night Football telecast.
Voters may cast one vote per day per voting cycle over the course of the program by visiting Toyota's website at: www.facebook.com/toyota. The Women's Wilderness Institute is the only Boulder-based organization to be selected for the multi-week competition.
