Parks and Outdoor Activities

 
Boulder Creek Path
The path is about 5.5 miles long and runs to Boulder Canyon on the west end and Stazio Ballfields on the east end (just past 55th street).  It is maintained jointly by the Parks and Recreation Department and the Public Works Department's Greenways Program. With over 300 days of sunshine miles of trails and bike-ways, you can easily hook up with the Boulder Creek Path to bike, walk, or run your way around Boulder.around Boulder.





Valmont Bike Park
Considered North America's most State-of-the-art public bike park sitting on 40 acres of awesome.
Bike Park amenities include family trails, cross country trails, cyclocross courses, a slope-style terrain park, dirt jumps, a dual slalom race course, 2 pump parks, and kids bike play areas. Progression is the name of the game at this park, with "small" through "extra-large" trails and features that cater to everyone, from the beginning mountain biker to professional rider.



 Anderson Farms
The Anderson Farm has been honored Conservationist of 2014. Lucky for our students it's a popular destination of school field trips where you learn that without seeds, we would not be able to grow any farm products. Tour the 200 acre farm on a wagon ride, and learn about the life of a plant from seed to maturity. Along the way plan on meeting some of Anderson Farms' favorite animal friends including Miles the Buffalo. The Farm and Party Barn may be rented for parties and weddings, or make a reservation for one of 21 private Campfire Sites.  Each campfire site will seat 18, they supply roasting sticks, a table, light the fire, all you need to do is bring the fix-ins.



 Chautauqua Park
Chautauqua Park is a portion of an iconic historic landmark dating back to when the City of Boulder began preserving wild lands over 100 years ago. In 1898, Boulder citizens approved a bond issue to purchase 80 acres to be used as a "Chautauqua". Chautauqua Park provides families with access to Open Space Mountain Park trails, which have a wide range of opportunities for children's unstructured interaction with nature. In the park itself, children play freely on the open turf and along the park's edges, with an iconic view of the Flatirons.

Humane Society of Boulder County
In 1902 a group of community volunteers founded the shelter.  HSBV is a private, non-profit organization that relies on donations and supporters, as well as numerous volunteers. No animal brought into the shelter is turned away regardless of age, health, behavior, or special needs. There are many opportunities to volunteer, from direct animal care to helping in the vet clinic or thrift shop.  They will help you find an opportunity that suits your skills and interests while meeting the needs of the many animals in their care.



 American Red Cross
The Mile-High Chapter is located in Denver. At any given time there are people with needs in Boulder County. Volunteers make up about 90% of the Red Cross workforce, and make it possible to respond to nearly 70,000 disasters a years, most of them are home or apartment fires.
